The Joys of Plaster

Aubrey has been casted for her brace. It was an interesting experience for her. She is very private and was so embarrassed to be wearing watermelon underwear. I didn't know what to expect so it is partially my fault. First they put her in this weird fabric and they cut out a neck hole and arm holes. She was being so goofy!
They first casted her back. Both men pushed hard on her back to get it as straight as possible. Then they had to wait for the plaster to dry.
Then she just waited for it to dry completely.
Then they flipped her over to do the front. She didn't appreciate me taking pictures!
All done! After it dried we went upstairs to take an X-Ray with the cast on. I couldn't believe how much straighter her back was just laying in it. They are custom making her brace here in town. The doctor wanted control over the whole thing. They will place special padding in the brace to best help all the curves. Who knows... maybe this will help after all!

Halloween

Last week was so busy with all the Halloween parties. First I went to Ali's class party. She is Little Red Riding Hood. This is one of her good friends. Here is the whole class. All 35 of them!
I had a little time in between the parties to run to my in-laws house and see my baby. Thank heavens they could keep him that day. I couldn't have done it without them. This is Aubrey's class. The boy in front with the magnet is a "Chick Magnet." I thought that was so clever.

Aubrey and Ali during the Halloween parade!
Then, first thing Friday morning we headed to Idaho. The kids had a four day weekend so we decided to go for a little visit. The 8 hour drive stinks, but I love to be home. The girls were going to a party at Grandma Janet's. Technically, Grandma Janet belongs to Macey and Marley, but Ali thinks she is part of the gang.
Here is Brock, AKA Yoda!! He left those ears on the whole night. He looked so cute!
Here is Brooklyn as a Ladybug! She is so cute!
Here they are before we left to go Trick or Treating!
We ended up over at my Grandparent's home. Brock is officially part of the family! We all have had to lay across my Grandpa's lap and get the famous "Winkie." He has done this since I was small. He just draws a face around your belly button with big ears and such. It is not something I would have done at my age, but I loved it when I was little!!

Aubrey's Award

Aubrey got straight A's this quarter!! The school had a little awards assembly. It was freezing that day, so this was the only good shot! Good job Aubs!

#2 Item Destroyed

I actually love these pumpkins. He brought it over to the wood floor and just threw it. I am so sad. I knew boys were destructive, I didn't know how often.

The Springs Preserve

On Saturday we went to the Springs Preserve. The kids were able to do some Trick or Treating, see some fun scarecrows and go on a spooky hayride. It was a lot of fun. The trick is to go early, when we were leaving it was packed. We were so glad we were on our way out!!
Dave is a bundle of energy!! He had ran 10 miles that day and I think it kicked his tail!
Ali was the only one brave enough to get a balloon animal made. Ali got a cat, but it looked like other kid's rats and dogs. It was free and she loved it!

Someone did Missionary Scarecrows. They were really cute.

#1 Item Destroyed

$70 Apple Mouse. It went for a nice swim in the bathtub. Rachael told me I should keep a list of all the things Brock destroys. This one hurt a little!

Scoli Update

That is my daughter's spine! I can't believe she is so crooked inside. Thanks to a 16 yr old gymnastics coach we were made aware of the problem. Now it is so obvious, I can't believe we never noticed. I feel like an idiot. However, we are going through the steps to help her. I took her into the specialist yesterday. He did a new set of x-rays and measured the curves. The worst one is about 51 degrees. The other is not too far behind. If she were 12 it would be surgery right away. An angle that severe cannot usually be corrected by a brace. For now we will fit her for a brace and she will wear that for 20 hours a day and see how things go. The Dr. didn't seem to think the brace would do much of anything, but would possible keep it from getting worse. Next week, casting for the brace and an MRI to check for any other problems associated with Scoliosis!!

Vacuum crazy

Brock is completely intrigued with vacuums. He simply can’t stay away when someone is vacuuming. He likes to put his mouth on the light, the hose, and even the bag. This morning, he spilled something on the floor and slid around in it with his pajamas. So, we took them off and let him walk around in just a diaper. We decided to vacuum and mop, but Brock couldn’t leave the vacuum alone. So, Nancy took off the attachment and let him play with it. He started pulling it on and off of his diaper repeatedly, which prompted the camera. By the time we started videoing, he had moved from his diaper to his face.

Oh, Poor Elmo!

There is no need for a script on this one.  The pictures say it all...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROCK!

My little boy is ONE!  I can't believe it.  He is walking, climbing, opening all the doors in the house, going up and down the stairs, getting into everything in sight, and is so dang fun to spite all that.  I could have never been prepared for a boy.  Our girls did nothing like this, ever! In fact , right now he has left the room and probably getting into more trouble. His favorite things to play with are the broom, carpet rake, and vacuum attachment.  He loves to bang spoons on my wood floor, it may not survive him.
